Yesterday I was a day ahead of myself.  My Timex Watch had somehow skip the 18th and jumped to the 19th.  So, since I did today’s work yesterday, I have decided to slow down the pace today.

This picture is of bags of food that we handed out in a new village.  We were instructed to hand out one bag per family and that each family had to present a issued ticket in order to get a bag.  NO TICKET, NO BAG!  As we walked through the village handing out bags, we would encounter families who would come running to get food from us but not have a ticket to present.  We had to tell them that the bags were for families with issued tickets only.  Some would cry and say, “we weren’t at home when they came by giving out the tickets this morning, we were working…”  It broke my heart to see these families get bypassed simply because they didn’t have the ticket.  As we finished, I asked our translator what that bag meant to the families who received them.  He replied, “That bag of food will feed each family for 7-10 days.”  That blew me away.  One bag for 7-10 days???  I know that when my wife returns from Publixs with her groceries for the week, we unload 15-20 bags!

As I type this post, I am humbled again by this picture and by God’s blessings on my family.

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
