Those of you who know me know that I have no problem saying what is on my mind.  In one of Jesus’ teaching moments, he told the Pharisees “Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.” (Matthew 15:11)

Discretion is something that I have to constantly work on.  Over the last year, I have prayed many times for God to give me wisdom concerning what I say.  Words are one of the most powerful forces on the planet.  They can tear down, build up, inspire, motivate, and rally people for a common cause.  Over the next two weeks, the Democratic and Republican conventions will be broadcast on our media outlets.  Both parties will spend countless hours arranging their words and messages to appeal to the broadest audience.

Please pray for wisdom as you hear their messages.  Pray for God’s leadership and guidance as you make this very important decision and exercise your right to vote.

“Our elections are free — it’s in the results where eventually we pay.”  Bill Stern
